Portable plants are designed to move between job sites on standard lowboys with minimal setup. Mobile plants (sometimes called 'transportable') relocate but typically need a load or two of components and a few days to commission. Self-erect plants use hydraulic legs to raise themselves from transport position to operational position without a crane — ideal for remote sites. Stationary plants are bolted to a permanent foundation and built for the highest sustained yards-per-hour production. Closner sells all four configurations.

A central-mix plant fully mixes concrete in a stationary drum or twin-shaft mixer at the plant before discharging into the haul truck — the truck drum just agitates during transport. A transit-mix plant batches dry materials at the plant and lets the truck drum do the actual mixing on the way to the job. Central-mix gives tighter mix quality and faster truck cycle times; transit-mix offers lower plant capital cost and flexibility on long hauls.

Under 100 yd³/hr is typical for small ready-mix operations or specialty pours. 100–200 yd³/hr fits most commercial ready-mix producers. 200–300+ yd³/hr is for high-volume DOT paving, mass-pour, and large ready-mix operations. Yes. Closner sells both new factory-spec plants and inspected used plants from prior owners. Used plants are listed on closner.com/inventory with original sales-order documentation, photos, and service history where available. Many of our used plants are taken in as trade-ins on new builds, so we know the maintenance history.

Self-erect plants commission in a few days once on site. Portable and mobile plants typically take one to two weeks for setup, calibration, and commissioning. Stationary plants depend on the foundation pour and the level of customization — figure six to twelve weeks from delivery to first batch, with Closner's installation crew on site through commissioning. Permitting timelines vary by Texas county and TCEQ requirements; we can advise on the typical path.

Turnkey at Closner covers site evaluation, plant design and specification, equipment delivery, installation, commissioning, operator training, and ongoing parts and service support. We coordinate the foundation pour with your contractor (or our partners), bring in the cement silos, aggregate bins, batch controls, dust collection, and ancillaries, and stay on site through the first production batches. After commissioning we provide parts inventory, scheduled maintenance, and on-call service across all four Texas branches.
