ABOUT US
Operating continuously for 62 years, with 3 generations of family leadership, we are a distributor for specialized construction machinery.

The company was founded in 1946 by brothers J.J. (Jack) Closner and George W. Closner. It was originally named Engineered Sales and represented Barber-Greene Co. and Noble Concrete Plants. Revenues were low in the early years due to the factory backlogs after World War II. The Barber-Greene line provided most of the business with sales of bucket loaders, vertical boom ditchers, conveyor systems and continuous mix asphalt plants.

In 1952, the name was changed to Closner Equipment Co. and we entered the aggregate field by representing Kue-Ken Crushers and Screen Equipment Company (SECO). This was followed by Childers Manufacturing Co., an early producer of hot oil heaters. We pioneered the use of these hot oil heaters in Texas as a replacement for the steam boilers used to heat liquid asphalt.

In 1960, Smith Engineering Works (now known as Telsmith Div. of Astec Industries) merged with Barber-Greene and we began selling Telsmith's wide range of aggregate processing equipment throughout Texas, especially cone crushers.

In the late 1960's and the early 1970's, Closner Equipment sold the first automatic screed control systems used on asphalt pavers in Texas. We also led Texas contractors in making the switch to drum mix plants in the 1970's.

Gomaco Corporation selected us as their dealer in the late 1980's. Gomaco's full line of concrete slipform pavers, curb & gutter machines, bridge-deck finishers and auxiliary equipment was a perfect fit with our other road paving products. Gomaco slipform products are now the market leader in Texas. We have won numerous awards for our sales & support.

Dynapac Compaction was added in the early 1990's. Dynapac is the world's leading producer of vibratory compaction equipment and another excellent fit with our paving products. Dynapac also led us into the "dirt business" with their wide range of Vibratory Soil Rollers.

Lincoln Windrow Elevators came next. We pioneered the use of elevators equipped with "asphalt re-mix" capability as a cost effective solution to the requirement for Material Transfer Devices on highway projects. These devices are now the industry standard in Texas.

Mauldin Asphalt Pavers led us into the commercial & residential paving market. Mauldin offers heavy duty, contractor friendly machines with many unique innovations. Truck mounted asphalt distributors and motor graders have recently been added to the product range.

ROSCO (Div. Of LeeBoy) was added in the mid 90's. Rosco's full range of products for Liquid Asphalt, Chipsealing, and Spray-patching moved us into the Pavement Maintenance business. Their Front Mounted Brooms are unique in the industry.

Superior Brooms selected us as their dealer for Southwest Texas. Superior offers self-propelled, center mount brooms that outperform all others on the market. These brooms are ideal for Seal Coat and Hot Mix contractors.

Products from Minnich Manufacturing were added to compliment our Gomaco Slipform machines. Minnich produces Concrete Vibrators, Vibrator Monitoring Systems and Dowel Pin Drills.

ROADTEC, an Astec Industries Company, has teamed up with Closner. Our new San Antonio facility has been designated the Roadtec Rebuild Facility for Texas. We offer custom repair & rebuild programs for your Shuttle Buggy, Milling Machine, Paver, etc. It is a fast and convenient service for Texas based contractors. In addition to Roadtec, we can also rebuild other major brands of planers, stabilizers and pavers. The Putzmeister and Allentown line of concrete, grout, mortar, and shotcrete pumps fits with our philosophy to carry the "best of breed".

Today, Closner's specialized line is rounded out by ABCO Engineering (conveying systems), Asphalt Drum Mixers (drum mix plants), Cemco (vertical shaft impact crushers), and Ferguson (pneumataic static rollers for Governmental entities).
